EMS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CAMPGROUND FIRE

In the beginning of the 1870's the influx of people kept growing and coming into our village. The crops were plentiful and the prosperity of the people was great. At this time the state felt our village should be incorporated.

By an Act of Legislature, on February 10, 1870, Avoca was approved to be incorporated as a village with general powers and perpetual succession. Since then the body politic has been governed as a municipal corporation.

The first official meeting was held on April 6, 1870. A special election was held in the village of Avoca, Iowa County, Wisconsin, in the railroad depot. The Election results were as follows:

H.C. Barnard, President
W.R. Spencer, I.O. Ingrahm, C.C. Jenkins, and J.J. Adams as village trustees,
and George Parr was elected for Police Justice.
